I really enjoyed watching that. Thank you so much for sharing it. I still cant get my ead around how quick that RUF is. The corning speed seems phenominal..... RUF not only builds a power machine, it certainly builds a well balanced machine too. What do RUF do in the suspension, transmission and braking areas of the car? Are there any Porsche parts left, or is it ll RUF? Great drive.
You're smart to look beyond the core weight and HP numbers. They are important, but if those were the only two variables, we wouldn't need to race - we'd just award first place to the best hp/weight ratio.
Gearing - It took some testing and development, but we arrived at a gearing package which was very good regardless which of the 25 tracks in North America we ran. The final package was a lot shorter gearing than OEM. There was no need for this car to go 200mph , so the best use was to shorten everything up so that top speed in 6th gear at redline was 175mph (the only exception was at Daytona but all we had to do is slip out 6th and replace it with a taller one to bring the top speed up to 180 mph).
Combine that short gearing with RUF's linear torque curve (575 ft. .lbs maintained from 5,000 through 6,000 RPM and you give the driver a huge window within which to operate and always be at peak torque.
