September 2013

It's September already. The year seems to be slipping away quickly. There have been so many 911 50th Anniversary events, it's been difficult to keep track of them all. September celebrations continue unabated, so if you haven't been able to get to an event, there's still plenty of time. Head over to the P101tv Porsche Events Calendar to ensure you don't miss an event. There's plenty more new members this month as well as more videos and pictures for your enjoyment. We've also added a few new features to the website.

This month's "Porsche on the Cover" is LeftBraker's awesome widebodied RSR. Head over and take a look at his monster machine now.

Historic Grand Prix

P101tv member TwinSpark has uploaded a fantastic video of their green widebodied RSR taking part in the Zandvoort Historic Grand Prix Masters. Fantastic looking machine and a great event.

Horsepower Versus Weight

Last month we discussed the benefits of putting your Porsche on a diet. This month we take a look at Power versus Weight. Many people talk about adding more power to their Porsche or perhaps removing a few kilo's to make it quicker. They often make these changes without first asking themselves if they are the best modifications to make. Have you ever really wondered what 30 or 40 extra horsepower might actually 'feel' like in your Porsche? Or perhaps you've thought how removing 50 kilo's would affect your car in terms of how much horsepower you'd have to gain to accomplish the same thing.

Fun in the Snow

Channel P101tv member SidewaysSam has been having a great time driving a Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera in the snow. The Ice Driver experience, as it's known, looks amazing and must be something that should be added to the bucket list!

Our 911 50th Anniversary Tribute

2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the legendary Porsche 911. Since it's launch in 1963 the Porsche 911 has won the hearts of sports car enthusiasts the world over. It is undoubtably one of the most famous and recognsiable icons of our time. To help celebrate this prestigeous occassion we have put together a 'hover slideshow' of some of 911's milestones over it's fifty years. Just sit back and watch the slideshow or hover your mouse over any picture to see more. (Best viewed on a laptop or desktop PC).

James Dean's Little Bastard

Although James Dean had starred in only three films in his short career: Rebel Without a Cause, East of Eden and Giant before he died at age 24, he had cemented his on screen reputation as well as earning himself the status of an icon. Most Porsche fans know that James Dean died tragically while driving his Porsche 550 Spyder on September 30th 1955.
