March 2013

March seems to have come around quickly and hopefully a break in the weather to allow some great Porsche motoring. No new features for Channel P101tv this month i'm afraid, but there's a few projects underway which we'll release later this year. In the mean time, there's plenty of new video and picture uploads to keep you busy.

This month's "Porsche on the Cover" is JKJK's 3.2 Carrera in 964 clothing. Head over and take a look at his project to create something a little different. We call it 'mean in green' and we're looking forward to watching progress.

A Porsche 962 on the Streets!

It's not something you'd ever expect to see. You hardly ever see a Porsche 962 these days, but to see one taking to the streets like an every day car! You have to take a look at this little video of a Porsche 962 away from its normal stomping ground of the circuit and out onto the streets.

Porsche 991 Carrera 4S

There's no doubt about it, the latest variant of the 911, the 991, is a fabulous looking car and a technological tour de france compared to its predecessors. These pictures were taken while at a Porsche Club event hosted by a local Porsche main dealer. It's a much bigger and heavier 911 than those from the 70's and 80's, but if your looking for something to drive every day, and have money to spare, this would fit the bill.

Hot Lap in a Porsche GT3RS

Take a look at this video of a Porsche GT3RS on a Hot Lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife. This is clearly what Mr Porsche intended when he conceived Porsche sports cars. They are meant to be driven hard and thoroughly enjoyed by their owners. What a machine. It certainly makes you want to get out there and enjoy some track time in your own Porsche!

Tyre Speed Ratings

Tyres play a major role in the handling characteristics of any car. They effect cornering speeds, acceleration and braking, fuel economy, noise, wet grip, dry grip, hydroplaning and top speeds to name a few. The subject of tyre speed ratings can be a bit of mystery. Not many of us pay much attention to all the markings on the side wall of our tyres. This Channel P101tv article is about tyre speed ratings and what they mean. Next time your looking at your tyres take a look and see if you have the right spec for your Porsche and the way you drive.

The Porsche Logo first Appeared on a Napkin

The Porsche logo is as famous as the marque. Emblazoned on the front of modern day Porsches, all but a cursory glance is needed to recognise the Porsche logo. However, in the early years of the companies history, Porsche were completely without an emblem.

Porsche Brake Caliper Decals

A great way to set off your Porsche wheels is with a set of painted brake calipers. They look especially great if the brake calipers have the Porsche lettering on them. Fitting brake caliper decals is a simple DIY project and takes only a few minutes per wheel.

Porscheshop Open day

We have been invited along to the Porscheshop open day event on Saturday 23rd March at their premises in Birmingham. There's presentations, money off discounts and more. We hope to go along and thought we'd pass on the invite. So, If you live in the UK then why not pop along for a few hours.
