It's August Already

Well the summer months are speeding by and August has arrived. Much has been happening in the world of Porsche as well as right here on P101tv. As usual we have included our picks for must see videos and pictures uploaded by our members, new guides and Porsche resources, another tip for getting the best out of the website and other news.

This months "Porsche on the Cover" is Screamingflat6's Beautiful Porsche 965 RSR

What the Fuchs!

The Fuchs alloy wheels have been synonymous with the classic 911 up to 1989. With production of the traditional Fuchs wheels now at an end, the second hand market is thriving and a good original set of Fuchs can set you back a small fortune. We have created a database of the various Porsche Fuchs wheels, including part numbers, offsets, sizes, and original finish etc. If you are trying to establish which Fuchs wheels you have then take a look at the Fuchs Decoder.

You can search based on part number or if you haven't got that just enter a wheel size.

Get it on Track

Porsches were built for the track. Our lord and master, Mr Porsche himself, intended that his cars were to be driven to the track on the weekends for a good days thrashing on circuit. Then after a thoroughly enjoyable time driven home with the car ready for the trip to work on Monday - and no dramas in between. Seriously though, if you haven't taken your Porsche to the track then you should seriously consider doing so before you depart this world. One of P101tv members MarkJ spends much of his time on track as you can see from this action shot!

The Amazing 993 Turbo S

All of the Porsche 911's have been fabulous incarnations of the original 911 design. But we think one to remember is the very special Porsche 993 Turbo S. During the last few years of production of the 993, Porsche offered the 993 Turbo S. Ultimately only 183 cars were ever sold. The Turbo S is a very high-spec Turbo including a power upgrade to 424 hp for the American market and to 450 hp for the rest of the world. Apart from all that incredible power, the 993 Turbo S is recognised by yellow brake calipers, a slightly larger rear wing, a 4-pipe exhaust and air scoops behind the doors. This was the last of the air-cooled Turbo's, and what a way to go out!

Killing your Porsche with Kindness

It's so easily done, and with the very best of intentions. We are talking about washing your beloved Porsche, but causing damage without even knowing it. Washing your Porsche sounds a simple task, but done incorrectly you could be lovingly scratching the paintwork with every caress of the wash sponge. Take a look at our guide for how to wash your porsche over in the 'Porsche Folio' section of the site.

And while we are on the subject of Track days

We can't just talk about tracking your Porsche without some video footage. Take a look at this great little video uploaded by P101tv's Longman of his Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera on an outing at Spa. Spa is a pretty famous circuit, but just in case you live on Mars, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is the venue of the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix, and of the Spa 24 Hours and 1000 km Spa endurance races. It is one of the most challenging race tracks in the world, mainly due to its fast, hilly and twisty nature. Spa is a favourite circuit of many racing drivers and fans including our man 'Longman'.

What a Nice Pair

We couldn't end this month's newsletter without a mention of pair a stunning 911's - A 1974 IROC RSR and a 1979 Flatnose. New Channel P101tv member 1974irocRSR uploaded a few pictures of his beautiful collection, and we think its a marriage made in heaven.

And finally......Did you Know?
